Liturgy: Work of the People
Easter Monday

Over the past week, the people of St. Mark have been
swept up into the stories and actions of Holy Week.
We told the Passion According to St. Mark. We gathered
on Thursday to hear a powerful word of forgiveness, experience
God’s grace through footwashing, and share the Lord’s supper.
On the Friday called Good we encountered the living word through
“The Agony of Peter”, written and performed by David Ferber. We
listened to the Passion according to St. John. And we prayed around
the cross: deeply, fervently.

On Saturday, children and adults welcomed the light of Christ, joyfully
told the great stories of God’s work, and celebrated the affirmation of
baptism. It was active. It was sacred. It was the work of the people.

Holy Week reflected what is most central about this community of
faith. We are centered in Christ:
made new in God’s grace, joined together through baptism.
And our worship is truly the work of all the people.
